SafeSport

PVAHA requires its member Local Association Programs, like HYHA, and all  member coaches, volunteers and employees to comply with the SafeSport Program standards. HYHA is committed to supporting this program and expects everyone in HYHA that is involved in the supervision of our youth athletes to be aware of this program and comply with its requirements. The USA Hockey SafeSport Handbook is available by clicking USAH SafeSport Handbook on the right.

Background screening is an important element of the SafeSport Program. As stated in greater detail in the USA Hockey SafeSport Handbook each coach, volunteer or employee who has regular, routine or frequent access to youth participants must have a background screening completed.  A background screen is valid for 2 years, and all previously screened individuals must be rescreened every 2 years. To meet the requirements of the USA Hockey SafeSport Program PVAHA has partnered with Protect Youth Sports to perform the background checks for coaches, volunteers or employees.  To complete your background screening application visit the PVAHA web site and, when asked, use Association Code MDH0006, which is HYHA.
