16U AA Princeton Victories
December 22-23 the Hagerstown Bulldogs 16U AA team traveled to Princeton, New Jersey for two Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League (EJEPL) games.
Both games were played in the historic Hobey Baker Rink, which was built in 1922 and is the 2nd oldest currently used Division I rink in the United States.
Saturday afternoon the team came out fast and set the tone for the weekend. Jaret Fritts scored with assists by Yusuf Gendergunoev and Joe Petite. Later Joe Petite scored with assists by Jaret Fritts and Yusuf Gendergunoev and Ethan Goins scored on a power play with the assist by Yusuf Gendergunoev.
EJEPL format is two 25 minute halfs with an ice cut at half time.
In the second half James Denis lead off scoring with an assist by Yusuf Gendergunoev. Yusuf Gendergunoev finished off the days scoring with a shorthanded goal with minutes left. Bulldogs dominated the 5-0 game and it was codified in Will Callan's 11 save shutout.
Sunday early afternoon the Bulldogs picked up where they left off taking control of the game early and never looked back. In the 10-0 shutout, Yusuf Gendergunoev had three goals; Joe Petite two goals and an assist; Jaret Fritts with a goal and two assists; Chris Rerko with two goals; Graydon Joyce and Nick Pinto with goals; and Jake Mayer and John Stohl with an assist each. Luke Hood was steady in net for the 23 save shutout.
With the wins the Bulldogs moved to 1st Place (14-2-1-1-0) in the EJEPL 16U Diamond 2 Division and have secured a playoff spot. Playoffs will be held in Mount Laurel, New Jersey the weekend of 1-3 February.
