HYHA is an all volunteer association that has been able to keep the fees low with help from each family in the program.    There are three areas where families can perform their volunteer time:

1.  Concessions (our greatest need)
2.  Skate sharpening
3.  Zam drivers
4. Help with Learn to Play and Pond Hockey

Concession volunteering

Pick games or special events that are before or after your childs home game.  If not already taken, send an email to your respective team manager stating which dates you would like.  Provide a few options as this is a first come, first serve arrangement.  Families are required to contribute 10 hours per season. If you wish to opt-out, the cost is $100 and covers the expense of bring in paid rink employees. 

Opt-outs need to be paid by October 11, 2009 to your team manager.  Checks can be made out to HYHA.

2 people per game, please.





Skate Sharpening

If your interesting in learning how to use our latest addition to the sharpening room, the Cag One, let your team manager know.  Training will be set up based on interest.  We have lots of rentals skates in need of a good sharpening.


Zam Drivers

Ever wanted to run down the ice on the Zam?  Now is your chance.  Zaming would be required between HYHA home games.  Training will be set up based on interest.

Pond Hockey and Learn to Play

Help new participate enjoy an introduction to hockey by helping them with equipment selection, showing them how to properly dress, and working with them on the ice.  Contact Eric @ hockeydirector@hagerstownice.org to help out.


Coaches, assistant coaches and team managers are exempt as they are already volunteering their time to their respective teams.  Board members are expected to participate in the volunteer program.
